Interesting facts about Venus
Some facts about the planet, second in sequence from the Sun in Solar system, the Venus. Very few of us show interest in Venus, but it is a very mysterious planet in the Solar system, once you know those facts you will also be attracted to the Venus.
1) Mercury is closest to the sun, this is
true. However, because of its proximity to the sun it lacks an atmosphere. Mercury's gaseous molecules reached escape velocity long ago and the atmosphere was 'burned off' leaving a vacant wasteland of rock with a similar surface to the earth's moon. There is nothing to hold in solar radiation, thus is flies out into space. Venus is a different story. Its atmosphere is primarily composed of more than 96% of carbon dioxide - the primary green house gas, which acts like a one-way door. The solar heat enters, but it cannot leave. Thus, an oven is created and create a temperature of 735K (462℃; 863°F) on its surface. This is why Venus has no water. Pictures suggest that Venus once had an aqueous environment, but because of climatic changes and intense heat it evaporated. Also, because of an overactive core, Venus seems to recreate its continents every X years. So, we do not expect to find fossils or many bacteria.
2) Venus is sometimes called Earth's twin because Venus and Earth are almost the same size, have about the same mass (they weigh about the same), and have a very similar composition (are made of the same material). They are also neighboring planets. However, Venus and Earth are also very different. Venus has an atmosphere that is about 100 times thicker than Earth's and has surface temperatures that are extremely hot. Venus does not have life or water oceans like Earth does.
3) Venus also rotates backwards compared to Earth and the other planets. That's the reason of being an unique planet in the Solar system. And because of that in Venus the Sun rises in the west and sets in the east. It's also unique for its rotation and revolution timing, they are almost identical.
4) Venus is the second planet from the Sun, orbiting it every 224.7 Earth days. It has the longest rotation period (243 days) of any planet in the Solar System and rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets. It has no natural satellite. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. It is the second brightest natural object in the night sky after the Moon, reaching an apparent magnitude of −4.6, bright enough to cast shadows.
5) It's so called the 'Morning Star' as it is the brightest planet in the Solar system.
