   Canal is artificial, made by human, like The Suez Canal.
   Channels ar made naturally between two land territories, like the English Channel.

   Carcass refers to the dead body of an animal. Vultures are feeding upon the carcass of a horse.
   Corpse refers to the dead body of a human. Corpse are lying in the battlefield.

   Contrast means showing the differences. He is a contrast to his brother.
   Compare means showing both the differences and the similarities. Caompare Akbar with Aurangzeb.

   A Contagious disease is one that spreads by contact, as a small-pox.
   An infectious diseases is one that spreads especially by air or water, as influenza.

   Contended is used when one has nothing more excess to demand.
   Satisfied is used while we say about someone's desires have been fulfilled. One may not have demands but he may have desires.
  He was contended but not satisfied by the service.

   An action is continuous when there is no breaks so long as it lasts. It rained continuously for two hours.
   Continual is used when we speak of some action within which there are occasional breaks. It rained continually for two days.

   Confess is used to ask for forgiveness for some huge crime. The man confessed to the judge for killing an elephant.
   One admits for some small reasons. He admitted to her for his mistakes.

   Crime is breaking the laws of a country. He was sentenced to jail for his crime.
   Vice is breaking moral laws. Her vice was that she drinks too much alcohol.
   Sin is breaking the commands of God.

   Custom is used in case of some nations or groups. This is the custom among the Hindus.
   Habit is individual to a particular person. He has a bad habit of chewing his nail.

   Deny is used when a statement is not accepted. He denied the charge, but refused to say anything in self-defence.
   Refuse is used to talk about unacceptable requests or actions.

   Devoted is used to something good. He is devoted to his profession.
   Addicted is used while talking about something bad. He is addicted to alcohol.

   Something is decreased for an unknown reason, as flood decreases.
  When something is diminished the reason is known. The army is diminished by disease.

   Desover is used to talk about something that was presented before but was not known to people. Columbus discovered America.
   Invented is used to talk about things that has created totally new, for the first time. Galileo invented the telescope.

   Disinterested is used to talk about being unselfish to someone. He gave disinterested service to our cause.
   Uninterested is having no internet in something. I am uninterested in the matter.

   Difference is the general term and lies in the thing, distinction is the act of showing this difference. The former is, therefore, to the latter as the cause to the effect. we often make a distinction though there is no difference, and also make difference where there is difference.

   Drown is used to talk about living things. He is drowning.
   Sink is used to talk about both living or non living things. The boat sank in the middle of the sea.

   Enough is used when one's desires are fulfilled.
   He has sufficient whose wants are supplied. A greedy man has never enough though he has more than sufficient.

   Epidemic is used to talk about some diseases that has shown up suddenly and prevails somewhere for a long time. Cholera is an epidemic diseases to the place.
   Endemic is used to talk about some diseases that are seen somewhere constantly. Malaria is endemic in certain places.

   Eternal is used for something that has neither beginning nor end. Time is eternal.
   Everlasting is something that has a beginning but no end. No fame is everlasting.

   Expect is used in both good or bad meanings. He is not expected to come round.
   Hope is used in good meanings only. I hope he will come round.

   Exceedingly means very much. He was exceedingly kind to me.
   Excessively means too much, i.e., more than what is proper. His health was ruined for drinking excessively.
